RealtorIn real estate, Open Houses are a great way to stimulate business and find more prospects. Some other methods may include cold calling, knocking on doors, contacting your center of influence, or sending snail mail to various neighborhoods. However, one of the most effective ways to increase your business is to hold the traditional open house. Depending on how you drive people to your open house could depend on how many new prospects you meet.

There are many ways to advertise for an open house, but social media will yield you the highest return for the least amount of time. Advertising through social media tends to increase attendance about 15-30%. It may also be good to advertise your open house on social media every day for multiple days leading up to your open house. Some social media sites that commonly used are Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Important content for your open house post should include at minimum:

  • Date,
  • Time,
  • Location,
  • Picture (which links to more information on the property), &
  • Don’t forget to “tag” or “share” with specific people or groups appropriately.

You may find that this can be a lot of work to post on social media sites multiple days leading up to your open house, but it is in fact a lot less time consuming than other primitive ways like door knocking, handing out flyers, and snail mail. Take 10 minutes of your lunch time each day to post on your social media sites or even put aside 30 minutes at the beginning of the weekend to schedule all your future post through Hootsuite, which can post to all your sites in one fell swoop.
